WhatsApp is the world’s most popular instant messaging app, and for good reason it can be continuously updated, has many features, and supports a variety of devices. There is no doubt why it reached the mark of a billion users. Want to make the most of the platform? Theencarta has some important WhatsApp tips you should use.

1, how to create bold, italic or strikethrough text

It’s been around for a while, but you’ll be amazed at how many people don’t know this simple WhatsApp trick.

Simply add an asterisk (*) to the beginning and end of the word or sentence you want to make it bold. So if you want to thicken the word biscuit, you need to type *cookie*. The same is true for italics, except that underscores (_) are used instead of the sides of the desired text. To browse the text, you need to add a tilde () at the beginning and end of the desired paragraph. You can also choose to create monospaced text by adding three accents (“`”) to either side of the text.

Want an easier way to do it all? Then highlight the word or paragraph in question, click “More” and select bold, italic, strikethrough or monoline. But this doesn’t work for all devices, so you may need to do a lot of work.

2. Quote a message in your reply

Whether your text message is too fast or group chats often see new messages, citations are one of the best WhatsApp tips for managing context.

To refer to someone, you need to hold down the desired message and click the arrow icon to the left (it is the first arrow shown at the top). Here, you can write your reply with an attached quote message for everyone to see.

3, stop automatic download through mobile data

One of Xiaobian’s favorite WhatsApp tips can actually help you save some valuable mobile data.

There are several ways to save data in WhatsApp while still receiving notifications and messages. First, disable the ability of the app to download media on mobile data. This can be done by setting > Data and Storage Usage > Using Mobile Data.

In this section, you can check photos or download photos, audio, videos and documents by moving data. This way, you need to click on the file to actually download it. In particular, video is huge data, so Xiaobian’s suggestion is not controlled.

4, improve data consumption

WhatsApp calls are a handy feature on the platform, but if you are a heavy user or a limited plan, they can consume quite a bit of mobile data. Fortunately, Xiaobian knows more about WhatsApp skills to improve data consumption. If you want to save some bandwidth, try accessing Settings > Data and Storage Usage > Low Data Usage and then check this box to reduce the amount of data used in the call.

5. Get a breakdown of whatsApp data usage

Data usage trackers are included with all Android phones for the past five years or so, allowing you to get data usage by app category. But WhatsApp also has a tracker that provides you with class-by-class data usage.

To access the data usage log for WhatsApp, you need to go to Settings > Data and Storage Usage > Network Usage. Here you can find data usage related to Google Drive, roaming, WhatsApp calls, status updates, messages and overall usage. The biggest drawback is that there seems to be no Wi-Fi and cell breakdown, all of which boil down to the same category.

6. View storage segments by contact

The storage usage feature (Settings > Data and Storage Usage > Storage Usage) can display some impressive statistics.

This feature allows you to see the ranking of the storage used by contacts. This is the ranking of the most storage space on your phone by contact or group. Just tap a contact/group and you’ll see a breakdown of messages, photos, GIFs, videos, and more.

7, then clear these files from the store

You can do more than just view contacts that take up all your storage. If you prefer, you can choose to erase these files from your phone.

All you need to do is access the storage usage section again (Settings > Data & Storage > Storage Usage). Here you can select a contact or group and click on “Manage Mail”. You can then select the category you want to clean up in this contact/group. So if your group of friends has a 50MB video clip, just check the “Videos” category and cancel everything else. You then need to click the “Clear Messages” button and choose whether to include starred messages in your roaming.

8. Request your account information

Much like Facebook and Twitter, WhatsApp allows you to request a ZIP file containing your account information and settings. This does not include your message, only collects your profile photo, whether you agree to the Facebook data policy, group name, etc.

To do this, you’ll need to go to Settings > Accounts > Request Account Information and click “Request Report.” It takes two to three days to get the report. However, if you choose to delete or re-register your account, or change your number or device, your request will be cancelled.

However, you can’t view this file in WhatsApp, so try using a different program on your phone or PC.

9. Send the chat history to yourself (or someone else)

WhatsApp has allowed you to back up your chats to the cloud, but what if you want to send a specific chat to someone, or just need a receipt? You can email your chat history at any time via WhatsApp.

To do this, you’ll need to go to Settings > Chat > Chat History and click on “Email Chat.” From here, your chat menu will pop up, allowing you to select a chat history for a specific contact or group.

Once you have selected the desired chat, WhatsApp will ask if you want to include media or just send text and emoji. If you want to maintain the final file size, it is recommended to choose the latter option. Once you make a decision, you will be taken to your email application where the chat history (in lightweight .txt format) will be automatically attached to the draft message.

10. Activate 2-step verification

By default, WhatsApp asks for your number and one-time password when you change your device. However, enabling 2-Step Verification means that even with a SIM card, the type of cannot access your account on a new phone.

To enable this feature, you must go to Settings > Accounts > 2-Step Verification. From here on, whenever you add WhatsApp to your new phone, you will be prompted to create a six-digit pin. If you have forgotten your PIN, you can also add an email address.

A considerable oversight is that you don’t need to enter a PIN when trying to disable 2-step verification of the original device.
