4 Surefire Ways to Boost Your Confidence

0

Let’s be honest here. Confidence is an idea, a concept that is often complex and multi-faceted. We aspire to be confident but we’re humans, too. We’re frail and weak at times. We struggle with temptations and challenges. We get weighed down by problems and burdens. Our self-worth is largely determined by our family values, culture, and peers. In today’s world, we really need to take a step back and evaluate our relationships and careers. These are some of the things that have a big impact on our confidence.

Then there are the more routine aspects that also influence your self-esteem; seemingly mundane things like your beauty care ritual. See, these habits affect how you look-and we all know how personal appearance can make or break confidence. Say, for instance, you’re not using a moisturizing lotion with SPF; chances are that your skin will suffer from harsh UV rays and environment-based pollutants, both of which can cause premature ageing and other skin issues. These challenges can be enough to shake how good you feel about yourself, especially if you don’t like what you see in the mirror.

The way you look affects your confidence. Your career and how successful you are at what you do shape your confidence, too. Your relationships can either make you feel safe and insecure. There are far too many factors that affect one’s confidence. How will you ever give it the boost it needs?

Get Outside Your Comfort Zone

If you don’t try, then you won’t know if you can do it, right? Break barriers. Seek new things that have always scared or intimidated you. There’s nothing more dissatisfying in life than doing the same things over and over again. You have to take risks. Only then will you realize that sky’s the limit for you. There is nothing you cannot achieve if you put your mind to it.

Say Goodbye to Negative Memories

If you keep on remembering a time when you were rejected, then you’ll never get over it. Your memories do not present facts. They do not tell you why you were rejected. You assume that you were bad at it. Now that you’re older, revisit these memories and look at the facts. If you failed an exam, try to remember the facts surrounding it. Were you able to prepare for it? Did you miss something? Your brain tends to remember only the feelings of inadequacy and not the facts of the issue. Focus on the facts, and leave the negative feelings associated with the memory behind.

Sleep Your Worries Away

Do you know that if you get enough sleep your mood will be better? Those six to eight hours are crucial to reducing stress and alleviating your worries. It will balance hormones in your body, making you feel happier and more ready for the world. The more you fine-tune your sleeping pattern, the more confident you will become.

Think Positive

This is easier said than done, of course. Humans tend to have negative emotions and feelings because these have allowed them to survive and escape danger all these years. But too much negativity chisels away at your confidence. You pay more attention to what was wrong than what’s right about something. Do mental exercises; think at least five positive thoughts a day. Do not try to suppress your negative emotions. Rather, acknowledge the good and the bad, but work on giving more weight to the good.

Even if you have low self-esteem right now, it’s not impossible to boost your confidence with these tips. It is not easy to suddenly start feeling confident about yourself. But with more positive thoughts and practice, you’ll slowly become more self-assured.
